Welcome to the Department of Electrical Engineering at Siliguri Institute of Technology, Siliguri. The department is recognized by AICTE, and is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The department offers comprehensive programs for the undergraduate in B.Tech. The Department started its journey in the year 1999. During this period the department has evolved itself in terms of expertise, infrastructure and student capacity. The Primary mission of the department is to provide quality professional education to the students of our Nation. The faculty members of the department work together with excellent team spirit in different areas which leads to key research publications and consultancy in these areas. The department strives to provide a conducive environment for the students to develop analytical and practical skills and apply them to real world problems. Students are also encouraged to undergo supervised practical training in different industries so as to get hand on experience and become employable technocrats. In order to ensure high standards of education for its students, the department has constantly upgraded itself by adding well-equipped and fully furnished laboratories to supplement the theory courses. Department has also dedicated project laboratory, department library, Department activity club, ICT based class room, Seminar hall, Electrical engineering society. Apart from the curriculum, the department always encourages the students to develop into intellectual prodigy and engage them in different curricular and extra-curricular activities. | A major milestone was the launch of a specialized Certificate Course on Data Analytics and AI for Electrical Engineering, aimed at equipping students with future-ready skills aligned with Industry 4.0 requirements. |
| Furthering its commitment to faculty development and research, the department, in collaboration with the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, successfully organized a five-day Faculty Development Programme (11–15 May 2026) on IoT and VLSI Perspectives for Electric Vehicle, Smart and Sustainable Energy Systems. |
| The department also reinforced its strong alumni network through Alumni Meets organized in Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Siliguri under the SIT Alumni Connect Cell, recording 126 online registrations along with substantial spot participation. |
