The Department of Computer Science & Engineering is at the forefront of turning out software engineers with a high degree of technical expertise. It fosters the innovation and breadth of vision necessary to excel in the blooming software industry. The experienced faculty exposes budding computer engineers to a rigorous and exhaustive curriculum designed to bring out the best in them and to keep them in touch with the latest state of the art technology. Besides imparting theoretical knowledge, the emphasis is on hands-on training and overall development of the individual's personality. Equal importance is given to the classroom learning which is meant primarily for conceptual inputs. The teaching program has been devised keeping in view the need of a close interaction with the industry.

The department has latest technology based computer systems which include good computing facilities. It has developed different computer laboratories depending on different courses according to the prescribed syllabus of the university and provides hardware, software and operational support needed for the laboratory work. Each laboratory maintains adequate number of computers and peripherals of latest configurations for the students. Almost all the laboratories are equipped with computers to provide one-one support to the students for their lab work. The computers are installed with Linux/Windows operating systems and application software for conducting the official laboratory courses. The laboratories also have a variety of other software that includes various programming languages, development environments, advanced tools for graphics, numerical computing and final year dissertation works. All computers are connected to each other through 100 Mbps LAN and have 2 Mbps broadband WIMAX dedicated internet connection. Wireless internet connectivity is also provided from the department which can be enjoyed within 100 meter radius of the college campus.

Departmental Library :

The department has set up its own library keeping in mind the necessities of the students and teaching responsibilities of the faculty. It has a good collection of technological books as well as of core subjects in the field of computer science and engineering. The library has an organized reading space to provide reading facility to the students and teachers. Issuances of books are also provided and are maintained with proper records.

Prof. (Dr.) B.B. Sarkar The faculty and staff members of our department sincerely believe that teaching is a noble profession even today and this profession is very important in moulding the young minds to become the responsible citizens of the future. Hence, we always put our consistent efforts to provide a learning environment in which students of our department can enjoy the greatest possible opportunity for academic excellence, intellectual development, and personal growth. Technology changes rapidly, especially in the field of computing, whereas the science, if it changes at all, does so much more gradually. Our perception is that persons who are clear and thorough about the fundamentals can adapt to rapid changes in technology relatively easily. We want the education imparted to our students to be the basis of a life time of learning. Our department has produced hundreds of professionals. They are consistently excelling either in the highly competitive industrial environment or in reputed institutions of the country/abroad. I attribute this success to the dedicated and research-minded faculties and staff members, hard working and disciplined students as well as the management of the institute for providing us state-of-the-art infrastructural support. I am confident that the members of our department will never be complacent and always strive to attain more perfection in teaching-learning approach in order to equip our students to smoothly face the challenges posed by the software industry as well as by the reputed institutions like IITs, NITs, and IIMs during their higher studies.

Engineering Graduates will be able to:

  • Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineeringfundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
  • Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complexengineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
  • Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems anddesign system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
  • Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and researchmethods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.
  • Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modernengineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.
  • The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assesssocietal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  • Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutionsin societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.
