The course covers the main areas of materials, components and processes in electronics, electronic devices and circuits, applied and industrial electronics, microwave engineering, field propagation and antenna systems, pulse and switching circuits, signal and information theory, electronic measurements and instrumentation, communication systems (including optical communication), electronic computer, control systems, television engineering, integrated circuits, radar engineering, microprocessors and computer software development. The facilities and expertise cover requirements for research and consultancy in the areas of telecommunication, optical communication, microwaves, microprocessor applications and computers.

Facilities

The department has modern equipment in its laboratories in the fields of electronics, television, digital electronics and microprocessors, communication including optical communication and microwaves. Printers and other peripheral devices are available in the computer laboratory, in addition to Various add-on-cards. The microprocessor laboratory of the department is equipped with microprocessor kits. All computer facilities are made freely available to students.

Departmental Library:

The library serves as a central organ of academic activity in the Department. The Department has a rich collection of books. It also has one copy of each B.Tech projects, seminar reports carried out in the department in recent years. All these cater to the needs of students and faculty. Most of the books are of recent edition with the facility of issuing these for a specified time period. The library serves to provide a calm and cozy ambience conductive to long hours of study. The library opens on all working days of the Institute from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.

Dr. Goutam Das Dawn of an academic year invites fresh undergrad entrants, some of them with strong aspiration to do B.Tech (ECE) at SIT and the rest boarding the course just by virtue of their laudable academic records. At the end of four years, all of them evolve into confident and brilliant engineers, ready to face the technical challenges inherent of the field of electronics and communication. The passing out undergraduates either get launched in top notch industries or go for higher studies in different reputed institutes in India and abroad. The Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering has its core strength in the field of Electronics, Communication, Signal Processing and VLSI with the following academic program: B.Tech - Electronics and Communication Engineering (ECE) (4 years) The undergraduate (B.Tech (ECE)) curriculum has equal emphasize on the theoretical and practical aspects of Electronics, Communication, Signal Processing and VLSI. The course not only meets industry requirements but have the rigor to meet the research challenges in the fast changing communication technology. Apart from class room teaching, there are frequent lectures delivered by renowned speakers drawn from Industry and R&D establishments. Conference, Seminar & Workshop are also arranged regularly to impart recent development in the field of electronics, communication and Signal processing technology. Supplementing the regular curriculum, the students are encouraged to participate in R & D efforts by involving themselves in the research activity executed by the faculty members of the Department. The strength of our students is their technical competence augmented by their steadfast motivation to excel in core technical areas – our eminent alumni spread across the globe configure the proof.

The graduates of Electronics and Communication Engineering will:

Engineering Graduates will be able to:
