Message from Head of the Department
With the rapid growth in IT/ITES industries, the requirement of Cyber Security professionals are gradually increasing. This growth has created a lot of opportunities for the graduates specialized in Cyber Security. Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), a unit of Techno India Group has started to offer B.SC degree in Cyber Security from 2022. This course was initially 3 years degree course (CBCS) but from 2023, the course has been reframed following NEP 2020 guidelines and has become 4 years degree course. The course is affiliated to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (MAKAUT), formerly known as West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). Facilities: The department has state of the art infrastructure with smart class rooms, modern laboratories & Book Bank facilities (books for entire semester) for each & every student. The department provides importance to classroom teaching, & emphasis on lifelong learning. The students are always encouraged to participate in different technical trainings, seminars, competitions & extracurricular activities. We make the students Industry ready so that they can cope up with new technologies as soon as they join Industries after completion of the course. Career Options: Information Security analyst, Information Security Specialist, Digital Forensic Examiner, IT Auditor, Security Systems Administrator, Penetration Tester, Cyber Security Manager, Security Architect, Security Engineer are the options in Industry for the Cyber Security students. Other than job they can go for higher studies in the related field. They can also become Entrepreneur and generate employment in the Society. Value added Technical Training Program, 2026 Technical training is an essential part for the students to enhance technical proficiency and bridging the gap between academic learning and practical application.
Master Chef Competition, 2026 Date: 12^th February, 2026 Atika Farhana Hoque and Devmalini Shil, 4th Semester students jointly acquired 3^rd position in the Master Chef Competition conducted as a part of the Tech-Management Fest 2K26 at Siliguri Institute of Technology.

Fresher’s Welcome Programme, 2025 Freshers’ Welcome program SWAGATAM on 19th September 2025, to welcome the new batch of students into the college family. The event was filled with enthusiasm, fun, and vibrant energy as seniors extended a warm welcome to the freshers.

QUIZBUZZ 2025 Technical Quiz Contest “QUIZ BUZZ 2025” conducted on 30th April, 2025 at the institute premise with the aim of encouraging a spirit of healthy competition and enhancing technical awareness among the students.
Master Chef Competition Winners, 2025 Date: 11^th and 12^th February, 2025 Atika Farhana Hoque and Devmalini Shil, students of 2^nd Semester, jointly acquired 1^st position in Master Chef Competition conducted as a part of the Tech-Management & Food Fest 2K25 at Siliguri Institute of Technology.
The Induction Program is the gateway to an Institution offering new students a smooth transition into their new roles. The induction Program - Prarambh, 2024 was organized on 1st August, 2024.
Fresher’s Welcome is a celebration designed to make new students feel comfortable, appreciated and excited about their academic and social life ahead. The fresher’s welcome proramme of the department was organized on 26th September,2024.
