Department of Master of Computer Application

Far from the hustle and bustle of the city crowd Techno India Siliguri Institute of Technology is establish in 1999 in the foothills of the Himalaya.  Master of Computer Application (MCA) is one its department, which started its journey in 2003 with approval from AICTE and under affiliation of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology.

Department of MCA is the outcome of combined effort of our faculty, students and the management actively supporting it, since its inception. In the new era of Global Communication, our department thrives to be the part and parcel of the universe of knowledge sharing. It believes in holistic development of human potentials, technological skills, professional ethics and cultural values. The Institute is geared in nurturing and sustaining conductive ambience for sculpting budding talents into technological development.

Distinguishing features of our Department include rich intellectual human capital, result oriented work environment, value-added professional, soft skill development programs and career development and project assistance.

The Department has excellent academic records of students, who have topped in the MAKAUT examination and achieved three Bronze medals in the year 2006, 2009 and 2016. Students have been selected in several top notch companies over the years and today many are holding high ranking positions in the software industry.

Department provides industrial internship (stipend) for the final year students to enhance their technical skills. Department has signed MoU with different reputed IT companies to facilitate the assured Internship program. We have dedicated Training & Placement (Corporate Relation) Cells to look after the Internship program and campus interviews. Students get the opportunities to appear in more than 100 Campus Interviews where recruiters are like TCS, Cerner, CTS, Infosys, Accenture, Amazon, Google and many more.

• Celebrating International Women's Day (8th March,2022)

Department of Computer Application celebrated Internal Women's Day to express love and gratitude towards women's contributions. Students visited and interviewed five women who gave their lifetime effort to make family and society happy, prosperous and recognized for their level of work but not their spirit of work.

Interviewed women are presented with sharee, sweets and rose to make them feel they are precious to society. 

The female staff who have a major role in cleanness of our institute have been recognized by roses and sweets. Students expressed their gratitude to the lady faculties by giving a greetings card and a flower. 

Students prepared one video composing all the interview and their activities, presented it in the Sir J C Bose seminar hall, and uploaded it to the college Facebook page.

• Workshop on Amazon WebServices (16th March,2022)

Department of Computer Application organized a workshop on "Amazon Wes Service" on 16th March 2022. Mr RanajyotiChakraborty, SrArchitech, Simpsoft Solution Pvt. Ltd shared his valuable knowledge on cloud storage. MCA 1st year and 2nd year students attend the workshop to get idea of initiating the project work in cloud. Students explore various features of Amazon Web Service and basic tricks to open free account in AWS. 

• Webinar on “AI and ML: Future Opportunities” (9th April 2022)

Department of Computer Application organized a webinar on "AI and ML: Future Opportunities" on 9th April 2022. 

Learning Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning opens a world of opportunities to develop advanced applications in various fields. Dr.Rik Das, a Lead Software Engineer of Siemens Technology and Services Pvt. Ltd., was the keynote speaker at this event. He enlightened the students about the widespread applications of AI and ML and the roadmap to becoming a ML practitioner. More than 100 students from the technical courses participated in this event and received motivation to learn machine learning.

• Invited Talk on Social IoT: The current trends (11th April 2022)

Department of Computer Application organized an invited Talk on "Social IoT: current Trends" on 11th April 2022. Dr Adrija Bhattachaya, Assistant Professor of Heritage Institute of Technology, Kolkata, addressed MCA students regarding the importance of IOT in our daily life.

• The department has latest technology based computer laboratories which include good computing facilities and in accordance with University syllabus as well as industry needs.
• Each laboratory maintains adequate number of computers so that one-one support can be provided for the students.
• The computers are installed with Linux/Windows operating systems and application software for conducting the official laboratory courses.
• The laboratories also have a variety of other software that includes various programming languages, development environments, advanced tools for graphics, numerical computing and final year dissertation works.
• All computers are connected with high-end network (both wired and wireless) and supported by high speed dedicated internet connectivity.
• The Lab is equipped with air conditioning and 40KVA On-Line UPS for uninterrupted functioning of Laboratory.
